Samurai X - Rurouni Kenshin
During the end of the effort to live his life in a peaceful manner Kenshin becomes a traveler, eventually ending up making a home in a Tokyo where he meets and helps a young woman by the name of Kaoru who runs a small dojo teaching a style which uses a wooden sword which is meant to protect not kill. Kenshin helps her out as a samurai claiming to be the legendary Hitokiri Battousai from the Edo era threatens to crush her dojo. Kenshin knowing full well that this man is a fake, being the true Battousai himself, shames him by defeating the fake without killing him. Kaoru offers Kenshin a place to stay as long as he likes and this is where the series begins.
Kenshin was one of the 1st animes I ever watched a couple of years a go. It is a fairly long series reaching over 80 episodes. Being a little bit older of a series the quality is dated but for the time it is great, with a lot of humor and action. The story line is solid and interesting with all the different fighters that come in and out of it as they also do have a way of analyzing the sword styles on characters are original and have their own definite set of personalities that always create fun and interesting situations when put together. Watching a character that has killed thousands of people you would think is a bad guys but no Kenshin is one of the most kind hearted anime characters I've seen but don't worry he can still kick ****. The reversal of killing to protecting and refusing to kill is an extremely drastic and challenging one which is a constant struggle. This has always been a favorite of mine and a standard on how I look at other anime. I would highly recommend it to all anime fans and especially the samurai enthusiasts. There isn't much blood or gore except for a couple flash-back scenes so I wouldn't worry about putting the kids to bed early so you can watch it, I would say its
HA! i will defeat you with my broken sword HA!
good for any on from the age 8 and up although I know when I was eight I lost interest after reading a cereal box cover. I give Rurouni Kenshin a solid 3.5 out of 5.
