1980 A group of enthusiastic young men and women for Music and Change founded Sabreen, Patient in Arabic. Music and Change has been the underlying principal of Sabreen’s struggle for 25 years of work. They followed two fundamental scopes of work, that of Music Production and Competence Building in Music. Up to 1992, this has been realized in various forms including the training of local musicians and developing their music culture and skills, training of children and forming Bidayat, a children group, the performing in festivals, recording of albums and a random number of music training workshops in Jerusalem and elsewhere. With the support of international organization Sabreen established its first recording studio, produced its own albums, generated a pool of professional musicians and technicians and opened up its work to the development of a musical infrastructure in Palestine. Sabreen Association for Artistic development, a local non-profit organization, is now a leading organization in music whose work is still governed by the same founding values but has spread to influence and lead the music life in schools, communities and the society at large.
